Update 10/1/17:  Snoopy has come a long way since being brought into VGSR. Snoopy is looking mighty fine since he has gained some much needed weight. He could still stand to add a few more pounds. But because Snoopy is very sleek and his frame goes on and on, he may always be sleek. Snoopy is very laid back and sweet, but also quite independent. While Snoopy is not a snuggler, he has his own way of showing his affection. He loves car rides and walking in the woods. Snoopy is well worth going the extra mile for. I promise that the bond you form with him will be very unique, and just maybe, the best one you’ve ever had.

6/26/17: Hello there! My name is Snoopy. My foster mom calls me Snoop because whenever she hears Snoopy, she think of Charlie Brown’s dog. As you can see I am not a beagle, or white and I do not sit on top of a dog house. Plus, little balloons with words do not appear above my head when I talk. You can actually hear me howl when I hear fire engines and bark when I want to alert my foster mom and foster GSD brother to something. I am a very handsome and sweet black GSD with gorgeous gold/orange eyes.

My foster mom saved me from extinction. I was very emaciated and had diarrhea when I was brought into the rescue. It broke her heart to see me like that so she scooped me up. Long story short, my foster mom and my vet have gotten me on the road to recovery. My first week with my foster mom I didn’t gain any weight because of the diarrhea but the probiotics took care of that. The second week I gained almost 5 lbs! I’m still taking probiotics because of what my gut went through with the malnutrition and I may need to stay on them for a little bit more.

My foster mom put me on this really cool diet – I get to eat almost all day long! Not really, but it sure seems like it. Hey, no complaints here! I get 4 meals a day (1/4 what I would normally eat twice a day) of high protein and high fat dry and wet food mixed. In addition, my foster mom makes me satin balls as treats throughout the day to help put the weight on me sooner rather than later. Man, are those delish! The diet seems to be working because the vet told my foster mom to keep doing what she was doing.

I’m not a very good drinker. My foster mom is though…ha! just kidding. I’m not crazy about water but if you make me a watery soup with either peanut butter, chicken broth or mix just some of my wet food in a cup or two of water, I’ll slurp that up no problem.

I’m sure all of this makes me seem like a problem child. But I’m not. Really! Because of how I was treated and had to live, I do have a few quirks that my foster mom is working on with me. You would be very pleased to know that I am a quick learner! I have never met a strange animal or strange human I didn’t like. Ok, when I say a strange human I don’t mean a weird human, I mean I haven’t met a stranger in human form that I haven’t liked.

I haven’t quite decided if I have a high prey drive. The other night I stealthily followed four feet behind an opossum that had gotten into the yard. Once he got into the bushes I said the heck with it. However when my foster brother sounds the alert that he has seen a chipmunk, I can’t stand not seeing it too. So off I go. Basically it’s all his fault, not mine.
