Nyla is a 10 1/2 year old blanket purebred Shepherd who was rescued from a life of over breeding, neglect, and starvation in late March in West Virginia in a neglect case with the local sheriff. The rescuer, the sherrif's brother, took Nyla and her kennel partner, a male, and took them in to get them out of the sad situation. His hours did not allow for the care of both dogs- and the male was to aggressive to adopt out. Nyla was saved by VGSR, as the rescuer wanted her to have a new life, even over 10. Nyla was 64 lbs when she came into the rescue- when she was initially rescued, she weighed 45 lbs, had very serious ear infections in both ears, hookworms, fleas, Lyme disease, and wasn't fixed.

VGSR got her ears cleared up, no more worms, fleas are a distant memory, Lyme disease is not presenting, and no more puppies possible! Her eyes are cloudy and she is tripping and can be wobbly. No marathons for Nyla! She still likes a nice walk, and no issues going up stairs at this point. Gorgeous coat!

She has the biggest feet you have ever seen! She loves to cuddle, sleep in, and follow her foster mom around. She snores like a buzzsaw and she knocks things over without a care. She eats stuffed toys- so she is better with a ball. We went through 12 stuffed toys before we caught on. Her sister, Emmie, is NOT happy about her flock of stuffed animals being wiped out. She does not take treats safely- watch your fingers! We are working on it, but Nyla was starved, so she is a gobbler. She walks well on a leash!

Nyla is good with children, but not small dogs or cats. She has a high prey drive.

Nyla is being fostered in Potomac Falls, Virginia- to inquire, please contact Foster at  mollodonnell@hotmail.com
