Please meet the beautiful and sweet Miss Estrella (a real star of the show)...

Overview:   Miss Estrella is a beautiful young lady with great form and coloring. Plus she loves her people. She enjoys running and running around in the yard but wants her person with her. She is a sweetheart and loves attention and will jump and mouth you to get it - we'll be working on that. If you sit on the floor she will work her way into your lap for attention but that only lasts for a few minutes and she wants to go again.  She is not a sit and chill type girl - she is always on the move, checking things out. 

•   ​ Car - She jumps right in, is excited and moves around quite a bit at first but then settles in for the ride.  

•  ​  Cats - She does pretty good with ours (we have six, all with different personalities). She likes to follow and sniff them. She is definitely curious about them but    understands the hiss and the paw swat.  If the cat is outside and runs she will lope after it - cats don't approve but the lope isn't predatory more play and curiosity. If possible, I'd like to find a home that has a dog savvy cat.

•  ​  Crate - She complains for about 5 minutes but then will settle down. No damage to crate or surrounding objects - just vocal.

•  ​  Dogs - She gets along with the dogs in the house but really would like one to play with. She likes to mouth on the dogs and try to get them to chase her. My girls haven't really engage in play yet so not sure how rough she'll get. If possible I would like to find a home with a young dog she could run and play with to get some of her energy out.

•  ​  Exercise -  She'll need a place to really run, explore, and patrol. She's not going to chase a ball so you'll need to take her for walks and an easy jog. Remember she will want you with her so plan accordingly.

•  ​  Housebroken - Not fully.  Great when in her crate, not so good when loose in the house.

•  ​  Kids - She is very mouthy and bouncy so small children wouldn't be best for her. She might even make some adults nervous. She will need some work in this area.  When running around she will sometimes knock into you so also not the best for little ones. 

•   ​ Training - She is a smart girl and will learn quickly. She knows sit and down but will consider the pros and cons before complying.  You'll need to stay one or two steps ahead of her - no slacking or she'll be running your house.

8/6/2021  - As I get to know this sweetie more, I will keep the items above updated and add a little narrative as we go.

8/9/2021 - Well she has been with us just over a week and has started to sett le  in and  her personality is starting to show.  One sentence to describe her - a HAPPY girl.  She just wants to make friends and play.  She likes to know where her human is and will follow you from room to room.   Out in the yard she wants to have eyes on you but if she doesn't it's ok - she doesn't freak out. She is starting to get out pups to play a little but nothing major yet.  Check out the video of her and Kayla.  She has been good in respecting the front door and not dashing out and she hasn't tried to jump our shorter fence - all huge plusses in my book.  W hen out for a walk she isn't a big puller but we haven't run into other dogs yet.  I've tried to pick quiet times for her first week just so she can get more comfortable and not get intimidated or over excited.  She has discovered a toy that she likes - a rope. Check out the video of her playing. Inside she gets along pretty well with the cats. Outside, if they run she will lope after them - which they do not approve of. She has learned to respect the hiss and the paw swat. She started out very mouthy, had my whole arm in her mouth at one point - not a scratch on it but wanting to play.  We have been working on that and she is getting better although when she starts getting excited, she still does it.  The mouthy ness and her bounciness, both of which we are working on, could be a bit much for little ones - especially for the parent.  That said, I haven't seen her with a little one so not sure what her reaction would be.  She is still having accidents when loose in the house but has been great with the crate.

8/26/2021 - Well little Estrella has made herself at home and has bonded well with me.  I have taken her to multiple adoption events and out to stores.  She loves the car ride and will hop right in. She seems to have an even temperment and isn't skittish or shy. A little cautious but even that has subsided as the weeks have passed and she is feeling more comfortable in her surroundings.  we went to Home Depot and she did great. I had folks move carts toward her, had equipment moving around making noise, handled brooms and shovels around her, even waved a bucket around. She watched then gave me a look like I was a bit off.  At the adoption event she did well with the other dogs and was very tolerant of all the attention.  She did get very barky initially when I handed the leash over to another volunteer to setup and meet people. She did not approve and kept trying to get my attention.  She was quite loud. As for the kitties in the house. Most have accepted her but will still claw or his at her when she gets bouncy. But at the same time, they are comfortable enough to walk under her and to sniff noses. even caught her giving one or two of them a little lick and they gave her a rub.  She still isn't the best in the house. Just this morning, after being outside not an hour earlier, she did a big pee in the kitchen. She had seemed to be doing much better but obviously still needs some work. She has gotten better with her mouthiness to humans. She now seems to be reserving that for our other dogs who come in rather damp around the neck. That is definitely her method of enticing play. She is doing well on our walks, I take all 4 at once and after the first couple minutes they get all settled and we do our pack walk.  She is a happy, bouncy, sweet girl.
