9.1. Update on Dewalt ( he goes by Walter now). He has progressed well with his training and knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. Walter has been to a couple of VGSR events and has not met anybody he does not immediately like, leaning up against them to get all the love they can give him. We have worked on impulse control with the kitties and he is doing much better responding to the “leave it” command and no longer going into lunge/bark mode. He no longer marks his territory in the house and does well settling with his toys in a room. He travels well in the car, and likes to ride with his head up between the seats, staying close to his person. He is a very athletic boy that would make a great jogging /hiking partner or possibly an agility dog. He will need an active adopter to continue his training and keep him mentally and physically challenged while he matures.
He is an approx 1 yr old pup was pulled from an overcrowded shelter where his fate was uncertain. He is friendly with people and other dogs he has met so far. He does not appear to have had much training so we are working through the basics with him. He has a strong desire to please and loves praise, so training is easy. He is initially vocal in his crate but settles nicely after a couple of minutes. We are still working through house training with him as like most males without any training he wants to mark his territory. He reacts strongly to cats….so a NO kitty household for his forever home. He is being neutered today, and will be available for adoption after 8-12.
He is being fostered in King George
Interested approved adopters can contact me at rodschlemm@gmail.com. for more information.
