Hi y’all! I am Nixie (AKA Beignet) -- my foster mom chose this name because I am soooo sweet. Well, I fooled everyone at VGSR and the shelter. They all thought I was a six-month-old puppy, but today at my first official VGSR vet visit, we all learned that I am actually a young adult. No one that I’ve met can believe that I’m not a puppy because I’m so cute, good natured and friendly. Nothing seems to bother me. I also love to woo everyone I meet -- human and canine. My visit to the vet was super fun. Everyone there fawned over me and told me I’m the cutest thing they’ve ever seen.
Though I’m brand new to my foster home, I’m fitting in nicely and like hanging out with my much larger foster brother (a lab mix) and foster sister (a VGSR alum). I came to VGSR with my mom and siblings. Most of my family went to other foster homes, but my brother Bourbon came with me to my new home. My entire family had been living at a warehouse until someone decided to turn us into the shelter…where we waited and were on death row. Thankfully, the good people at VGSR saved the entire family! We are now all in great foster homes and learning manners. I am young, smart, and eager to please so my foster mom thinks I will pick up house manners quickly. I would love to continue learning in your home, if you’ll have me. Come meet me at adoption days in Annandale, Springfield, and maybe even Gainesville.
A note about Beignet: She is like a pocket-sized shepherd and is totally cuddly and lovable. She seems to crave human attention and companionship. So far, she hasn’t met a person she doesn’t love or an animal she doesn’t like. An added bonus is that she doesn’t seem to shed like a regular GSD. She’d be a great addition to any home, especially one looking for a smaller dog. She loves to ride in the car and snuggle up with you. She is learning to walk on a leash, and we are working on house training and basic obedience with some great improvement in just a few days. As I learn more about this adorable, happy girl, I’ll send updates.
