Looking for a young pure-bred long-haired GSD but want to skip the potty training and frustrating puppy behavior such as shoe chewing? If this sounds good, Randy is the dog for you!

Randy is gorgeous, a real stunner! Randy was found as a stray in rural North Carolina and is now being fostered in Alexandria, Virginia. He is a typical one year old GSD, full of energy and smart. Randy knows basic commands such as sit, down and stay. He is extremely food motivated.

Randy walks and runs well on a leash. He does pull a little when he sees another dog or squirrel but listens to correction. He loves going on hikes and enjoys swimming in creeks. Randy is house trained and has good house manners. He only chews on his toys or if my youngest leaves a barbie on the floor - that's fair game. He does not chew on shoes or cords. He does however need constant correction to get off the couch and bed. We let him freely roam the house with no issues, even when we're gone. He has only been left alone for up to two hours and was fine (we watched him on camera). As long as he has proper exercise, I think he could be left alone up to 6-8 hours.

He is great with kids. He currently lives with three children ages 6, 7 and 10. He lets them pet him while eating and snacking and shows no food aggression. He loves playing fetch and gets the zoomies when in the back yard.

Randy met a female pit/lab mix and was very vocal but appropriate during the sniff out. After about ten minutes he snapped in the face of the other dog. He was immediately pulled away and corrected and fine the rest of the walk. He has met two male dogs, and the initial sniff was okay, but he then tried to dominate the other dogs. We're working on this, but I would say for now, he should be the only dog in the home. Also, no to cats right now but he has potential to be cat friendly if his energy is managed.

Randy operates as he has a job to do. He would much rather play fetch or keep an eye on the kids then play with other dogs. When the kids are playing in the front yard, he intensely watches them and barks if one of them goes in the road.

Randy needs a firm leader and training. He will make a wonderful family dog. If you are an approved adopter and interested in learning more about Randy, please contact Lynn at lynnkrolowitz02@gmail.com.
